Culpeper County General District Court

The Culpeper County General District Court serves a growing jurisdiction in northern Virginia. Clerk of court is Cheryl Lee Phillips. The court handles traffic violations, misdemeanors, felony preliminary hearings, and civil claims. It has exclusive jurisdiction over civil claims of $4,500 or less and concurrent jurisdiction with the Circuit Court for claims between $4,500 and $25,000. All General District Court cases are heard by a judge, with no jury trials at this level.

The 16th Judicial District also covers Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties, along with the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The Circuit Court clerk is Hon. Carson W. Beard. The Circuit Court is at the same address as the General District Court, with no land recordings accepted after 3:30 PM. Traffic Violations in Culpeper County
